Beers in the Bronx
Oh my dear Bronx, the borough I fail to claim. Born and raised in Harlem I felt like it was a sin to appreciate any other borough. But then comes gentrification and this Dipset Reppin’ Wash Heights All Day Nutcracker Enthusiasts transplanted and moves to the Bronx! THE BRONX!
For the first few years my answer to “Where are you from?” was “I sleep in the Bronx but live in Harlem.” Girl please!
I am on to my second apartment in the Bronx and have learned to appreciate the Bronx and explore what it has to offer. This week I was introduced to a hidden gem. Chelsea Bronx Brewery in the Claremont/Morisannia Village section of the Bronx is one of the oldest Manhattan breweries that originated in 1995 at at the Chelsea Piers. One of the coolest things of this brewery is that it has a bar called the Taproom where you get to enjoy seasonal beers amidst these large tanks that are fermenting and conditioning the next beer batch.
During my visit I tried the Pumpkin Pie Ale whose spices and pumpkin pie aroma made you miss autumn, the Sunset Red Ale which taste more like a classic summer beer, and the Blackberry Wheat whose fruitiness won me over! On top of a great selection I must say hospitality was also A+. Sam the bartender gave you “I LOVE MY JOB” vibes and at the end of the bar you can find a stack of board games for you to choose from. I bust ass in Sorry!
I recommend the Taproom at the Chelsea Bronx Brewery for a different bar experience in the Bronx. (THEY ALSO HAVE FOOD, GO FOR THE CLAREMONT SALAD!!)
